      National Book Week is an important initiative in encouraging the nation to value reading as a fun and pleasurable activity and to showcase how reading can easily be incorporated into one’s daily lifestyle. The commemoration coincides with International Literacy Day on 8 September. This year marks 10 years of celebrating Book Week. The mission of the ‘Celebrating Arabic Reading’ initiative is to make Arabic books more accessible for first-time online book readers and book lovers alike with unprecedented discounts of up to 90% off on online books at the Google Play Books store, the world’s largest ebookstore that hosts more than 5 million titles and offers readers.

        The National Education Association (NEA) is celebrating its 19th year of Read Across America and will continue to pursue the goal of “motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources.” In addition to this annual event, First Lady Michelle Obama, announced the creation of Open eBooks.   IGS National Reconciliation Week book donations. The initiative was organised by the Parents, Teachers and Friends (PTF) Association, celebrating reading, sustainability and the IGS motto, Unity Through Diversity.

Reading Rockets is a national multimedia project that offers a wealth of research-based reading strategies, lessons, and activities designed to help young children learn how to read and read better. Our reading resources assist parents, teachers, and other educators in helping struggling readers build fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.

CELEBRATING AND PROMOTING LITERACY AND A LOVE FOR READING “South Africa commemorates National Book Week from 2 to 8 September. It is an initiative of the South African Book Development Council (SABDC) in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture. August 9 is National Book Lovers Day, when recognize all the benefits that literature has to offer for all ages.

Every August 9, we recognize all that literature has to offer by celebrating National Book Lovers r it’s an old classic or a short story, reading has a profound impact on our lives.

January is National Book Month, and I’ve been having a great time learning ways that teachers can celebrate it with their students.

Beyond just encouraging kids to read this month, here are ten ways to get engaged during National Book Month. Host a “reading” in your class or school. Even non-readers can celebrate Reading Month. Here are 6 skills to prepare your young child for reading. Each year at the beginning of March, school children kick off National Reading Month by celebrating the birthday of the beloved Dr.

Seuss. Teachers will design contests, family literacy events, and even pajama & pillow days to provide cozy. Book Swap or Drive. To promote reading for fun during spare time, organize a book swap just before winter break or before school lets out for summer.

Have kids bring in gently used books to swap for others. As an alternative, you can support literacy by organizing a book drive for another school or for children you know are short on books.

Children’s Book Week (May) is the annual celebration of books for young people and the joy of reading. It originated in the belief that children’s books and literacy are life-changers—a mission we can absolutely get behind.
